Although I have not had the bounty of motherhood myself, I still cannot help but wonder what path these fresh lives I photograph will take. My mother could have never imagined that I would become a photographer when I first arrived into this world. Although she was remarkable at recognizing my early interest in the arts, and continued to foster my passions as I grew. I continue to thank her for the unconditional support she has showed me to this very day. With such bounties, I find myself wanting to pay it forward. I have recently been encouraging several special people in my life to find what their passion and purpose is. For I want to share the secret that, when we find our gifts and follow our passion we will be rewarded in life.
It was so timely for me to meet this very special family I had the honor to photograph yesterday. This five day old baby girl melted my heart from the moment I met her. Her name is Nyah, which has African roots and means “one with purpose” or “a life of purpose” in Swahili. Nyah’s purpose has already had an impact on me, and the time I was able to connect with her helped heal my heart of recent hardship in my life. Thank you Nyah and family for a memorable session. It was an honor to meet you and I look forward to watching the girls grow and prosper.
