I am back from the holidays and very excited for the arrival of 2011. I have tons of new vintage props I cannot wait to use for my upcoming photo sessions, and I am finally almost finished with the new website I have been building for the past two years. I also have a couple of personal adventures in the works this year, the first of which is a big trip.
Every couple of years I get the itch to travel internationally. So far I have been all over Europe (twice), Canada, Israel and West Africa. And 2011 brings me yet another opportunity to go abroad, this time Down Under! I will take a 2 month sabbatical from my business and make the long journey to Australia and New Zealand this April. I have many friends I have met over the years from this far away part of the planet that I look forward to visiting.

For those of you wanting to get into my schedule this year, please do not fret, as I will be back in the beginning of June, just in time for the birth of my best friend Lisa’s little girl! Yes, the friend I blogged about last August that just got married is almost 5 months pregnant… I can hardly believe it myself, but today I attended her ultrasound appointment and yes, there is a growing healthy baby in there. :)
For 9 years I have wanted to be a mother myself, and a long divorce has seemed to push the dream of motherhood even farther away for me. But a new light was planted in my heart last year, and I have begun the process of training to become a loving parent to children in need in our very own community, a Foster Parent. After much consultation with other Foster Parents as well as my family, friends and even some of my most adored clients, I am ready to take on the new challenges single parenting has in store for me.
My trip abroad is a last hurrah before I bring children into my life. Once I get back in the U.S. I will be moving into a bigger house in Fresno to accommodate these new arrivals. My goal is this summer I will be ready to receive my first foster child(ren), but we will see how things go. I fully plan on keeping I See Beauty Photography an ongoing part of my daily schedule, so the only break in photographing locally will be the months of April and May while I am gone. Please, any parenting advice or support is more than welcome now that I am preparing to join many of you on this journey of motherhood.
A special thanks to Tessa, my 5 year old friend and neighbor for doing a fantastic job modeling the globe!
