Last August I adopted a gregarious 5 month old black kitten from the Valley Animal Center. I was not in the market for a kitten at the time, but she ended up choosing me. I guess I am a softy when it comes to babies and animals. ;) It took me a few weeks to come up with her name Keiko, which has proven to fit her perfectly. She has been great entertainment, keeps me laughing and on my toes, and is quite the little sidekick. Although, sometimes I feel like I am managing a 2 year old, keeping her out of trouble.
It seems like she is a dog in a cat body; her favorite toys are balls, she plays fetch and tug-of-war, she doesn’t mind water and often sits in the sink while I am trying to use it. She has been known to greet my guests at the front door before I get there, and she is as friendly and playful as can be. It’s like having the companionship of a dog, but without the maintenance. I guess she is the best of both worlds.
Today is a special day for Keiko, for according to the shelter where I adopted her from, April 22nd is her first birthday! To me she is still a kitten. Happy Birthday little one!
