What a difference an ounce makes!

I love what I do. I get to spend time with growing families, capturing their irreplaceable moments, getting to know them and oftentimes making new friends. What a gift these last few years has been to me. In addition to all the other bounties that comes with my career, I also get my much needed baby cuddling time in, as with this little one.

Meet baby Sofia, on her 21st day of life. She began our session a little restless (as expected with her being an ‘older’ newborn) but quickly calmed down after mom topped her off with that last ounce of milk. She slept for the remainder of the session, and was still crashed when I left. What an amazingly beautiful baby girl she is! I love her sweet grin, beautifully shaped eyes, and full head of hair. And take a look at that little whispy curl on top of her head, it makes me smile every time I see it.

She truly made my day in a big way. After we finished photographing, her Mom let me sit and cuddle with Sofia while we talked for awhile. It is moments like that, sitting peacefully on the couch while enjoying a sleeping cuddly baby in my arms, that satisfy my longing to have one of my own. Thank you little Sofia, you are a special little girl that I feel honored to have met!

Introducing Owen on his third day of life. Typically, the earliest I will photograph a newborn is 5 days old, to give mom’s milk a chance to come in. But Owen decided to come a few days late, and because of my schedule, we choose to go ahead and do the session on our original date. He was wonderful to photograph, so cooperative and sweet, although he had a mind of his own when it came to his hands. What precious memories we were able to capture of one of the youngest babies I have had the privilege to photograph. Thank you little Owen for being such a dream to work with!

Introducing Sasha

I have been a bit behind on all my computer work due to the fact that I have had two very special guests at my house for the last week. My two nieces from Washington DC have blessed me by spending the remainder of their summer with me. The girls are 5 and 12 years old, and bring with them lots of activity and a demand for my attention. How do you mom’s juggle everything? Whew! I had hopeful thoughts that I would be able to work on the computer while they are here, but I have hardly found time to do so… I have two more photo sessions after this one to post later on this week along with pictures of the girls. For now, we are packing to leave to the coast for a few days.

Thank you mom and dad for your generous patience. I know we took these images almost two weeks ago. So without further delay, please meet 5 day old Sasha and her two year old sister Samantha. What truly special moments we were able to capture together. Sasha was so cooperative, and even gave us few smiles. And we were even fortunate enough to get some great moments with her toddler sister. I hope you are thrilled so far! Enjoy.

A Summer Baby

Some images are just magical. Sometimes it is hard to put your finger on why, they just are, and I know it the moment I capture it. These moments will always be etched in my memory, not only as an image, but as a feeling. Such was the case with this close up of baby Natalie and her mommy’s hands. What a perfectly sweet image, capturing their relationship, Natalie’s dependence on mom, and how very small and precious she is. She was so alert and calm during our session, a perfect summer baby.

Six day old Natalie is number three in this amazing family. I had the privilege to photograph 2 year old Christopher as a newborn, and 6 year old Alex when mommy was expecting his little brother. How much fun it is to see them now, all grown up as active children. Congratulations Alex and Christopher on the birth of your baby sister!

Tyler and Addison

Meet baby Tyler at 20 days old, along with his big sister Addison. With a spectacular morning drive up into the foothills and and a fun filled afternoon playing and being creative, I could not have asked for a better day! It was perfect weather in the mountains and we could not pass up going outdoors to get some images of the children in their natural environment. Welcome to the world Tyler, your a lucky little guy!

Generations of love

Introducing 8 week old Amelia. Although she is two months old, she is still the size of a newborn. That is because she was born several weeks early as a surprise to her family. She has many loved ones around her, one of which is her grandfather. I had the opportunity to photograph the two of them together, the result of which is one of my favorite images. I love the contrast of grandpa’s wise hands against Amelia’s pure baby skin. What a sweet baby girl she is.

Elliott’s Big Arrival

Introducing 5 day old Elliott, a perfectly healthy 11 pound 13 ounce baby boy. He is nearly double the size of my typical newborn, yet as his proud grandma pointed out, perfectly per portioned at 22 1/2 inches long. He is so much fun to hold and just melted right into my arms. I am thrilled about all the fantastic images we were able to capture due to the fact that he would have rather been laying on mom eating. Daddy appropriately referred to him as a baby kangaroo not wanting to leave his mommy’s pouch. I wish I could have taken him home.

Introducing beautiful McKayla at 7 days old. She was my 5th newborn baby girl I had the pleasure to photograph in a row. She has taken on her parents easy going personalities and was such a sweet snugly baby to hold and cuddle with, I did not want to put her down. Mom and dad, you have so much to be proud of with McKayla, congratulations you two!

Daddy’s Hands

Remember that amazing maternity session out in the field with the tractor and horse? Well, little miss Julia just made her grand entrance into the world and is content as can be with her proud parents. I was lucky enough to take her pictures at 6 days old, isn’t she so beautiful! We created so many wonderful memories together, but some of my favorites are of her with daddy. I just love the first photograph with dad holding her in the water bucket.
